The function of the office of Code Enforcement is to enhance and protect the health, safety, and well being of residents, property owners, and businesses in the City of Forrest City.
The department accomplishes its mission through inspections of all new construction as well as remodels. All construction is required to have permits for building, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and gas inspections. Some cases may also warrant the condemning of nuisance structures and removing nonworking vehicles.

Forrest City Public Library was established in 1921 when a group of local women, known as the Community Service Circle, gathered together a total of five hundred donated books. Unfortunately, this first library was forced to close after a couple of years due to a lack of funding. The library moved to its new home at 421 S. Washington Street in April of 1939 at a cost of $25,000.

The Department of Public Works is made up of 30 employees who help to keep our city clean. The responsibilities of this department include maintaining clean streets, street repair, cleaning ditches, pickup of solid waste from curbs, maintaining street lights, cleaning drainage areas, pest control and more.
Citizens can request large item pickup and special circumstance solid waste pickup by calling the office of Public Works.

The Forrest City Water Utility's mission is to provide adequate potable water and wastewater collection/treatment to the Citizens of Forrest City that meets all standards set forth by the Arkansas Department of Health and Human Services, the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality and The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency with professional service at an efficient cost.Click here to read more.
For meetings, conferences, workshops, social events, weddings, etc., the place to choose is the Forrest City Civic Center. We have a large spacious auditorium, two club rooms and two small conference rooms.
