The function of the office of Code Enforcement is to enhance and protect the health, safety, and well being of residents, property owners, and businesses in the City of Forrest City.
The department accomplishes its mission through inspections of all new construction as well as remodels. All construction is required to have permits for building, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and gas inspections. Some cases may also warrant the condemning of nuisance structures and removing nonworking vehicles.

Building codes currently being used are:

  • Plumbing: 2018 Arkansas Plumbing Code (based on the International Plumbing Code 2018).

  • Mechanical: 2021 Arkansas Mechanical Code (based on the International Mechanical Code 2021).

  • Electrical: 2020 Arkansas National Electrical Code (NEC) with Arkansas amendments.

  • Fire: 2021 Arkansas Fire Prevention Code (based on the 2021 International Fire, Building, and Residential Codes, Volumes I, II, and III, respectively, with Arkansas amendments).
