A Heat Advisory remains in effect for the mid-south region until 9 p.m. Friday (6/27).
The National Weather Service reports that heat index values up to 105 degrees are possible in some areas.
The hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses and residents are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Residents are advised to take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing.
Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat strok

FEMA has a few reminders for area residents who are applying for disaster assistance.
After residents apply for assistance, FEMA may call to schedule an inspection of the damaged home or for more information to process the application. These calls may come from unfamiliar area codes or phone numbers.
Officials say its’ important to answer the call. A FEMA inspection may be required to determine whether a home is safe, functional and accessible. If an inspection cannot be scheduled, that may cause a delay in FEMA’s review of a homeowner’s or renter’s application.
Be advised, there is no charge for an inspection. The inspector will have a FEMA photo ID and your application number.
Also, FEMA representatives never ask for money. If you receive a call from someone claiming to be a FEMA representative, but you aren’t sure, call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362 to verify the caller’s identity.
Area residents in St. Francis and Crittenden counties who suffered losses from serve storms in April can apply for FEMA assistance for losses not covered by insurance.
The deadline to apply for FEMA assistance for the April storms is Tuesday, July 22.
There are several ways to apply. Go to DisasterAssistance.gov, use the FEMA App for mobile devices or call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362.
Lines are open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.

FYI

Caldwell Mayor Gary Hughes invites the public to come out and enjoy this special fireworks display

The Forrest City Police Department has announced that officers will be conducting sobriety check points during the July 4th holiday weekend.
Police officials encourage residents to stay safe and sober during the holiday and urge citizens that if you party to much, get a designated driver.
If anyone needs assistance, they can call the Forrest City Police Department and officers will provide a safe drive home within the city limits.

The Forrest City Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will host a forum titled "Mothering the Moment: Empowering Maternal and Postpartum Health", tonight (6/26) at 6 o’clock at the Forrest City Civic Center.

With temperatures on the rise, it’s important to protect yourself and your loved ones from heat exhaustion. High heat and humidity can be dangerous—especially for the elderly, children, outdoor workers, and those with health conditions.
Know the Signs of Heat Exhaustion:
Heavy sweating
Weakness or dizziness
Nausea or vomiting
Headache
Cool, pale, clammy skin
Rapid heartbeat
What to Do:
Move to a cooler, shaded area or indoors with A/C
Sip water slowly—no caffeine or alcohol
Loosen tight clothing
Apply cool, damp cloths to skin
Rest and monitor symptoms
If symptoms worsen or last more than an hour, seek medical attention immediately.
Stay tuned to official updates from the City of Forrest City and follow safety guidance during extreme heat. Let’s keep our community safe and cool!
