• His patents for the fire escape ladder
• His invention of the hose conductor
• His courageous work on the Underground Railroad
The marker lists his life span as 1816–1916, marking a century of impact, innovation, and service.

The City of Forrest City will begin trash pickup on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, weather and road conditions permitting. We will start with the Monday route (see map below).

We ask residents to please keep vehicles off the roads to allow garbage trucks to move safely and efficiently through neighborhoods.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we resume trash collection. Some areas are still in poor condition, and safety remains our top priority. Rising temperatures this week should help improve conditions.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Debt Collector Scam Warning

Consumers receiving calls and texts from debt collectors face increasing difficulty determining whether the contact is legitimate or a scam. (InvestigateTV)
Debt relief attorneys say that the rise of robocalls and artificial intelligence calls make it confusing for people to know if they actually owe money.
They advise consumers to avoid giving out personal information and instead ask questions to verify the caller’s legitimacy.
Verify by asking for their full name, their contact phone number and the name of their company.
You should also ask if they have a file number identifying the original creditor, as in many cases, they’re collecting “on behalf of” another company.
Once you get the information, you should hang up and research the information provided before calling back.
It’s also suggested that you request verifiable information “in writing” through the mail to confirm whether the debt is legitimate
