One of the main topics of conversation in Forrest City lately has been the extremely unpleasant odor that is currently permeating, especially the downtown and southern parts of the city.
It’s been determined that the source of the smell is rotten cotton seed hulls out at the old Planter’s Oil Mill located at Davis and South Rosser streets in Forrest City.
Mr. Kendall Pettus, Code Enforcement Officer for the City of Forrest City, explained to the Morning Show crew Wednesday (3/18) how the situation came about:
Pettus said that representative from the Mill’s parent company is due to be in Forrest City this week to evaluate the situation and organize the clean-up effort.
