EACC Summer Programs
The Community Education and Workforce Development programs at East Arkansas Community College have announced the Summer Schedule of classes for students of all ages.
The schedule offers a wide variety of unique Kids on Campus programs and camps including: Children’s Theater Camp, Pickleball, Junior Golf, Basketball, Spike-it Volleyball, Youth Horseback Riding, Gymnastics and much more.
There are also classes designed for specific age groups, including
Preschool-ages 3 and 4; Kindergarten through 2nd grade; and for students in grades 3 through 8.
Also, the Personal Interests and Senior Sage (students aged 50+) classes for adults include Yoga, Water Aerobics, Conditioning, Applied Piano, and more.
The schedule for Professional Development classes includes Healthcare Provider CPR intended for participants who provide healthcare to patients in a variety of settings.

Tuition waivers are available for credit classes for students aged 50+ and discounts are available for children who register for 3 or more classes.

Applications are open for high school students who want to be part of the Clinton Presidential Center’s Student Presidential Leaders Series.
Fifty high school students — grades 9 through 12 — will be selected for the year-long program.
The program engages high school students to develop their leadership skills; explore the importance of inclusivity and civic participation; and learn how to turn their knowledge into action. It helps students build their capacity to be leaders.
The 2024-2025 group will spend the year attending in-person and virtual sessions, connecting with their peers from across the state, engaging with established leaders and learning how to make a meaningful difference.
The Derek Lewis Foundation supports the program, so there is no cost to participating students.
Applications are open through June 16. The first session, a weekend-long summer retreat, is scheduled for July 19-21.

The Black Belt Ninja Karate summer camp at East Arkansas Community College begins June 10th for kids entering grades 3-6.
Whether they’ve never tried karate before or are a longstanding student, if you’re looking to keep your kids moving this summer, this is the camp for them.
The instructor will lead students through a fun packed martial arts program that will safely introduce students to martial arts and expand the skills of those with previous experience.

The Forrest City Public Works Department has successfully repaired the collapsed storm drain at the intersection of Chestnut and McDaniel Street. Thanks to the diligent efforts of our dedicated team, including workers Henry Haggins, Charles Blunt, Quentin Hamilton, and Jessie Williamson, the area is now safe and accessible for all residents and commuters.
Your safety and convenience are our top priorities, and we appreciate your patience during the repair process. Please continue to report any infrastructure concerns, and rest assured that we're here to ensure the smooth functioning of our city.

FCA Miss Juneteenth Pageant, Sunday, June 9 at 5 p.m. at the Forrest City Civic Center. The pageant is for ages 5-18.
Competition categories include: Casual, formal, Q&A and Talent.

A Healthcare Provider CPR course will be offered at EACC on Thursday, June 6th.
The class teaches CPR skills including ventilation with a barrier device, a bag-mask device, and oxygen; use of an automated external defibrillator; and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction.

The Forrest City School District Summer Feeding Program will be open at three district sites this summer.
Breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 9 a.m. and lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the following locations:

The program is FREE to anyone 18 and younger. All meals must be eaten on site.

FCA Juneteenth Community & Heritage Festival hosted an 5k walk/run on Saturday, June 1st! It was great to see participants in such a meaningful event that not only promoted health and wellness but also celebrated our shared heritage and the significance of Juneteenth. Thank you for your hard work and dedication in organizing this great event.
Forrest City Medical Center Ladies Auxiliary holds PACE (People with Arthritis Can Exercise) classes on Tuesday and Thursday each week in the cafeteria at Forrest City Medical C enter, from 9 a.m. to 10 a. m. The free classes include range of motion, gentle strengthening, balance, weight bearing and breathing exercises, all performed in standing or seated positions to suit individual needs.
