IRS-certified volunteers with Entergy Arkansas and several community partners will offer free tax preparation services at Super Tax Day events across the state this month in an effort to help customers maximize their tax refund.
Qualified taxpayers include those with a 2024 income of less than $67,000, those with disabilities, and limited-English speaking households.
Customers will have access to essential information about qualifying tax credits and deductions, including the federal Earned Income Tax Credit.
The events are open to the public and will be held at several locations, including at Southern Bancorp, 425 E. Plaza in West Helena, Saturday, Feb.15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Participants need to bring their government-issued photo ID, Social Security cards for all household members, along with all wage and earning statements.
Those who are unable to attend an event in their area can still receive free, in-person tax preparation services by scheduling an appointment at one of the Entergy-sponsored VITA sites through April 15 or by using the no-cost, online counseling services at www.entergy.com/freetaxhelp.

Forrest City High School & the Mustang Athletic Department invite all area first responders to come out as the district celebrates First Responders Night during the Mustang basketball game Friday night against Truman.

Scam Warning
The U.S. Marshals Service issued a scam warning on Tuesday (1/28).
Officials say imposters are telling individuals that they must pay a fine or risk arrest due to identity theft, failure to report for jury duty or other civil process issues.
According to the advisory, the scammers spoof actual government agency telephone numbers and impersonate government officials, making the calls seem authentic.
During these calls, scammers attempt to collect a fine in lieu of arrest, telling the targets that they must withdraw cash from their bank accounts and transfer the money to the government by depositing cash into bitcoin ATMs.
A short time later, the victim is contacted by another individual claiming to be a U.S. marshal who is looking into the case.
The release says that as a final step, the victim is told to send a photo of their driver’s license and of the QR code scanned at the deposit kiosk to a phone number provided by the scammer.
Deputy U.S. Marshal Jeremy Hammons says that no legitimate law enforcement agency, including the U.S. Marshals Service, would ever contact the subject of an arrest warrant and demand payment of a fine to avoid arrest.
