Rockefeller Institute Listening Session being held in Forrest City on July 25th
Civic Arkansas is an initiative by the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute to enhance civic health in Arkansas.
Objective: Gather feedback on community successes and barriers to civic engagement like voting, volunteering, and meetings.
Format: 90-minue session with opportunities for anonymous input, individual answers, and small group discussions.

Ms. Rodreya Powell is 15yrs old and missing. She has been missing since July 7th. Her family is needing help to locate her and to make sure she is safe. If you see Ms. Powell please notify the local police so we can return her home safe. Lets work together to help the family be whole again.
Join us at the local Verizon store for a special "Backpack Giveaway" event on July 28th at 1 p.m., located at 201 Deadrick Road in Forrest City.
Verizon will be distributing backpacks filled with school supplies and books. The event promises lots of fun activities for kids, including face painting, music, games, and food trucks on site.
Important: Children must be present to receive a backpack.
Verizon is seeking sponsors, donations, and volunteers to help make this event a success.

The Forrest City School District has scheduled their annual Back to School Fair for Saturday, Aug. 10, from 9 a.m. to 12-noon at the Dwight Lofton Mustang Arena.
Nominations are being accepted for the 2024 Forrest City Athletic Hall of Fame.

The Little Rock VA Regional Office will hold a Virtual Claims Clinic for Arkansas Veterans, July 25th from 4-6 p.m. During the clinic, Veterans may speak one-on-one with staff who are ready to assist with specific questions regarding claims for VA benefits. The Forrest City School District will hold 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘 athletic physicals on Tuesday, July 23, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Forrest City Health & Wellness Clinic located at Central Elementary School.
The physicals are required for 𝗔𝗟𝗟 Fall and Spring athletes along with 𝗔𝗟𝗟 Mustang Marching Band members.
Please make sure to send the completed physical form with your student when they arrive.

First-time incoming students at East Arkansas Community College are required to attend the 2024 New Student Orientation.
Students will choose to attend one of the New Student Orientation sessions at EACC’s Forrest City campus.
Here's the schedule:
--Tuesday, August 6th, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. with check-in beginning at 8:30 a.m. or
from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. with check-in beginning at 12:30 p.m.
Students will check-in at the EACC Fine Arts Center.
Students will have the opportunity to meet instructors, EACC personnel, and learn more about college resources, programs and services.
Topics covered will include financial aid, advising, how to log in to the myEACC student portal, student email, Blackboard, student activities and other general campus information.
New students should register for Orientation online by visiting EACC.edu - Click on the “myEACC” link at the top of the website and then select the “New Student Orientation” image to complete the online form.
Advising and registration services for students will be available before and after Orientation sessions. Parents and/or guardians are invited to attend with new students.

Alternating lane closures are planned on the Interstate 40 Mississippi Relief Bridge just past Exit 281 in West Memphis from Monday, July 15 through Thursday, July 18.
The eastbound and westbound outside lanes will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily as bridge crews perform a routine bridge inspection. At least two lanes of travel will remain open in each direction at all times.
Traffic will be controlled with the use of cones and signage. Drivers are urged to use caution while traveling in the area.
First responders have been busy this morning on I-40 westbound. Currently around mile marker 230, working a fatality accident with another entrapment.
Traffic is being diverted at exit 239 at this time. www.idrivearkansas.com is a great resource for traffic and road conditions when traveling through our state.
