SCAM ALERT!!!! SCAM ALERT!!!!! PLEASE BE AWARE Arkansas State Police is warning people to be aware of a text message scam regarding the status of your Concealed Handgun Carry License. (Channel 8, Jonesboro) ASP said in a news release this week that someone has been sending out text messages indicating that the recipient’s concealed carry license is expiring, with a link provided to renew it. ASP says that these texts did not come from them and warns citizens not to click on the link. All concealed carry renewals must go through the Arkansas State Police website. Anyone receiving this type of bogus text is asked to call their local State Police HQ. Locally, call 870-633-1454 for Troop-D HQ in Forrest City.

The Forrest City Lady Mustangs will hold their annual Basketball Camp this week. The camp is for children entering grades 2-6 and will be held Tuesday-Thursday (June 11-13), each day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Dwight Lofton Mustang Arena. Participants will learn basketball skills and techniques and have a fun experience. The program is open to both boys and girls and the registration fee is $30. EACC Summer Programs The Community Education and Workforce Development programs at East Arkansas Community College have announced the Summer Schedule of classes for students of all ages. The schedule offers a wide variety of unique Kids on Campus programs and camps including: Children’s Theater Camp, Pickleball, Junior Golf, Basketball, Spike-it Volleyball, Youth Horseback Riding, Gymnastics and much more. There are also classes designed for specific age groups, including Preschool-ages 3 and 4; Kindergarten through 2nd grade; and for students in grades 3 through 8. Also, the Personal Interests and Senior Sage (students aged 50+) classes for adults include Yoga, Water Aerobics, Conditioning, Applied Piano, and more. The schedule for Professional Development classes includes Healthcare Provider CPR intended for participants who provide healthcare to patients in a variety of settings. The complete schedule of Summer classes is available online at EACC.edu. Pre-registration is required for all classes and events. Tuition waivers are available for credit classes for students aged 50+ and discounts are available for children who register for 3 or more classes.
