A USDA drive-thru food distribution will be held in St. Francis County, Thursday (3/20) at two locations: Larry Bryant Center in Forrest City from 8-10 a.m. and at Palestine City Hall from 9-11 a.m.

The City Council of Forrest City will meet Tuesday (3/18) at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

A representative from Arkansas Legal Aid will be at the Forrest City Public Library, Tuesday, March 18th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Call the library at 870-633-5646 to make an appointment.

FYI The City of West Memphis says that the I-55 bridge will be closed again for construction this weekend, weather permitting. The closure is planned, starting at 8 p.m. Friday, March 21. It will re-open by 6 p.m. Monday, March 24. The bridge will be closed at Bridgeport Road on the Arkansas side and South Parkway in Memphis. The I-55 southbound ramp and Crump Boulevard westbound will also be closed.

“Raisin” Multiple Sclerosis Awareness event, coming up Saturday (3/15) from 2-5 p.m. at the Thomas Health & Wellness Center in Forrest City.

Arkansas Law enforcement will conduct a “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign March 17th in conjunction with the St. Patrick’s Day holiday. Officials say that every year, alcohol-impaired driving casts a shadow over the festive spirit of St. Patrick’s Day by taking the lives of community and family members across America. Statistics show that 38% (290) of the traffic fatalities that occurred during the St. Patrick’s Day holidays between 2018-2022 involved drunk drivers. In 2022 alone, there were 74 drunk-driving fatalities during the St. Patrick’s Day holiday, of which 49 involved drivers with a blood alcohol level of almost twice the legal limit. Drivers ages 21-34 (34%) were the age group most involved in alcohol-impaired-driving fatalities during this holiday, followed by drivers under 21 (30%).
