A Community Outreach event sponsored by local churches in the Forrest City area will be held Saturday (8/24) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lane Chapel CME Church at 821 West Scott St. in Forrest City. School supplies will be given away, plus free food boxes, a bouncy house and games for all ages. Voter registration will also be conducted on site. Everyone is invited to attend.

East Arkansas Community College will host a special After-Hours One Stop registration event on Thursday, August 15th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm for students interested in enrolling for the fall semester. The event will be held in the Welcome Center on the Forrest City campus. For more information call 870-633-4480, ext. 205 or email advising@eacc.edu.

The 2024-25 entertainment season at East Arkansas Community College has been announced.
The season will start with LEANN RIMES on September 21st. That will be followed by THE ISAACS on November 9th, LONESTAR on January 25th, KOOL & THE GANG on Saturday March 15th, and the season finale will be Saturday, April 12th when ZZ TOP comes to the Fine Art Center.
Subscriber Renewals are available now through the 22nd with subscribers receiving renewal information in the mail or they can call or stop by the Fine Arts Center to renew. Season Packages will go on sale to the public Monday, August 26th. Complete ticket information is available at eacc.edu

Junior Auxiliary of St. Francis County will host a Back-to-School Bingo Night, Saturday (8/17) at 6 p.m. at the St. Francis Area Developmental Center building at 834 East Broadway in Forrest City (next to Jordan’s). Tickets are $30 and includes one bingo round and dinner. Call Amy Hale at 870-318-2206 for more information.

A St. Francis County Veterans Legal Clinic will be held Thursday (8/15) from 12-2 p.m. at the St. Francis County Museum on Front Street in Forrest City.
The clinic will offer free consultation with legal counsel to provide assistance with expungements, estate planning, business law and landlord/tenant issues.
The clinic is a collaborative effort with Legal Aid of Arkansas and the St. Francis County Museum.

From August 16 to September 2, state, county, and city officials will be actively patrolling and checking for impaired drivers. To protect your safety and save money, avoid drinking and driving. Make the responsible choice—designate a sober driver or use alternative transportation.


Women in Transition to Glory Services, Inc. is hosting their Women’s Clothing Drive.
They invite you to participate by donating or receiving items. The drive aims to provide essential clothing for women during job interviews. They need gently used items that are aimed to promote professional attire. The Forrest City School District will hold its annual district-wide Open House on Friday, Aug. 16, from 4 to 6 p.m. Parents, grandparents and guardians are welcome to come out, tour the facilities, and meet your children’s teachers for the 2024-25 school year. The first day of school is Monday, August 19th.
